As a staff member of Integrated Help Services you are in a position of trust and as such you need to understand that you have an obligation to recognise the position of trust placed in you and ensure that information and materials (some being subjected to privacy legislation) accessed or received during the course of your work is used only in connection with performing your duties.

You also have an obligation and responsibility to preserve the confidentiality of client information and refrain from any form of disclosure, either inadvertently or deliberately at all times, by observing appropriate care and attention, exercising due diligence, avoiding conflict of interest and corrupt conduct.

It is therefore the responsibility of all Integrated Help Services staff to protect the confidentiality of all information and material provided by clients at all times, and use it only for legitimate University purposes.  You should adhere to the principles outlined in the QUT’s code of conduct.  Any breach of confidentiality, security or potential conflict of interest must be reported immediately to your Manager or the Director, Integrated Help Services.

To this end you are required to agree to undertake the correct use of University resources and report the receipt of any gifts or gratuities in accordance with QUT policy.  You should adhere to the principles outlined in the QUT Code of Conduct and the Values of Integrated Help Services.

Similarly should you in the course of your work discover that inappropriate/illegal material is being accessed/stored/copied using QUT resources then you are required to report this activity via your supervisor/manager for appropriate and confidential action to be undertaken.

Every Integrated Help Services staff member must read and sign this statement to confirm that you have been instructed in these matters. I therefore ask that you sign and return to the Director’s office the attached statement.  By signing the attached statement you acknowledge that you have read, understood and accepted this policy.
